I am pleased that at the AGM we had a number of “new” faces put themselves forward to join the committee, with Naomi, Chris Wood and John Inman offering their services, perhaps “not so new” in John’s case?
I was elected to be Chairman again this year, which I believe is a great privilege and you will see from the inside cover the positions that the individual committee members offered to undertake for the next twelve months. All of us on the committee, no matter which post we hold, all rely on your help and support and I hope you will continue to do this in this coming year.
For our nominated charity last year we raised a magnificent sum of £574 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. This year let’s see if we can beat that for our nominated charity – The Alzheimer’s Society. Unfortunately this is an illness that has become more prevalent in recent years, perhaps due to our longer life expectancy, but is severely under funded in terms of research. We have already had a £50 “donation” to start us off. This was following a whip round to replace a “lost” jacket on John Inman’s retirement do…..which wasn’t “lost” at all!!
For a lot of members who enjoy camping, the season begins at Easter and I welcome you to join us whenever and wherever you can. Please ensure you obtain (if you haven’t already) a list of all our meets and events this year.
As I write this we still need stewards for Knaresborough in a couple of weeks time and for a week at our THS in Kettlewell in the summer. All those who steward don’t pay site fees and other expenses are payable to THS stewards, please see John or me if you can help out.
Finally, I will be out of action during May due to a foot operation which will restrict my driving but I will take this opportunity to wish you all every enjoyment during this summer wherever you park your wheels or canvas.
