Well, one week on from the Region Meet at Carlton Towers and I am still buzzing. Thank you to everyone who supported our Yorkshire Youth section in, what I am sure you will agree, was a rip roaring success.
Some of us attended the working party weekend and others made it at some point during the week, to help set things up and I am proud to have been a part of such a team orientated operation.
The actual weekend of the meet brought good weather, with plenty of sunshine, despite the temperatures dropping a bit at night. Congratulations to Andy and Ian, the Leeds DA Youth Leaders, for such outstanding entertainment; Union Jacks were outstanding, along with the other booked acts and the Yorkshire Region's Got Talent was fantastic, well done and thank you to all who took part.
Vinnys' Yoot Bar was a hive of activity all weekend, with music provided by MC Scottish Andy and Leanne, who kept the party going non-stop, especially on Saturday when things ran straight through from 11am to 11pm. We also had a special appearance by Ashley Flannagan from Leeds DA Youth Section, playing the guitar and singing several numbers, including one of his own songs, which was fantastic. Thank you to you all for keeping the mood swinging.
Englands' football team brought one of the few lows of the weekend with their less than impressive 0-0 draw against some blind and lame children from a village on a hill somewhere, but everyone was able to watch on the big screen in the bar and share their sorrow.
A Penny Fair was held in the big marquee and raised over £800 for youth funds, so a massive thank you to everyone who contributed in any way. The sports, as usual, provided much excitement and entertainment throughout the weekend and well done to all competitors, Trojans, one and all.
Finally, a huge thank you to John and Jill Hawtin, our Yorkshire Region RYLOs, who, for the last 12 months have shouldered the burden of organizing this event and steering the rest of us in the right direction, (if you see either of them in a bar at any time soon, buy them a large one, they certainly deserve it!). Thank you, also, to all the Region Youth Leaders and assistants for your tireless endeavours and to all the unsung heroes from the Yorkshire Region Committee, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes and, not forgetting, our Yorkshire Region Youth, who contributed so much, throughout the event and in the week before; you are all fantastic and make being Youth Leaders such fun and so worth while.

I C E – In Case Of Emergency

We all carry our mobile phones with names and numbers stored in its memory. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn’t know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this ‘ICE’ (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of ‘ICE’ is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name ‘ICE’ (In Case of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones with patients but they didn’t know which number to call.

He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose.

In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as ‘ICE’. Please forward this.

It won’t take too many ‘forwards’ before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one’s mind at rest.

For more than one contact name, simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc

Please forward this e mail to as many people as possible as this can help in an emergency.

As a first for the Camping and Caravanning Club, the Yorkshire Region Youth will be hosting the event and we would like to make the event a roaring success. At this moment in time, the HDA block booking is the smallest of all the Yorkshire DAs, standing at only 6 units in the block booking area. This will be a terrific weekend and I would urge you to try your best to be a part of it. We have a bar, entertainment, childrens entertainers, face painting, trade stalls and sports. If you think you might be able to join us, please ring our Booking Officer, Lesley O'Neill, or reply to this post ASAP. I know you will not want to let our youth section down.....remember....YOUR DA NEEDS YOU!!!

Hi all,
just wanted to say thank you to everyone who made the May Day meet at Lockside in Ripon such a fantastic weekend. It was a testing time for Les and me due to the lack of a towcar, meaning we were in a small tent. Many thanks must go to our camping chums (not least Lesley Cobb for Saturdays breakfast). We were unsure how we would cope, as it's been quite a few years since we camped in a tent, but the company, socials and alcohol saw us through.
It was really nice to meet so many new faces, too. Thanks to all you campers who joined us and passed on your great comments; we really hope you enjoyed yourselves enough to join us again.
Regards

Hi All

As some of you know I collect plastic bottle tops for my school.

We are having them processed into Playground furniture and Garden planters.

I would like to ask HDA members to save their tops for me and I will collect them when camping at the weekend meets.

Tops that are acceptable are bottle tops, shampoo, fabric conditioner, gravy granule, drinking chocolate lids, tops off juice cartons, and most semi flexible tops that are around. Cofffee jar lids with the card removed.
Any amount which you can save for me would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

As some of you know I collect plastic bottle tops for my school.

We are having them processed into Playground furniture and Garden planters.

I would like to ask HDA members to save their tops for me and I will collect them when camping at the weekend meets.
