May day Meet 2019

Ripon is a stunning cathedral city that dates back to the 7th century, over the years it has evolved into a Yorkshire city of charm and character, known for its historic buildings and the beautiful Ripon Cathedral, it is one of England’s smallest cities, keeping alive its traditional customs such as ‘setting the watch’ This thousand year old ceremony takes place nightly at 9pm with the blowing of the horn in Ripon Market Place.

Our meet opens 10am Friday the 3rd of May ending noon Tuesday the 7th May. (4 nights 5 days). Booking not required.

Itinerary

Friday

6.45pm – Starts this Bank Holiday with Tony & Victor heading a family stroll round the lake.

7.30 ish – Sausage Sizzle & Chat around the camp fire.

Saturday

8pm – Indoor family social, (bring your own drinks)

Sunday

11am Coffee Morning.

1pm The best Car Boot in Yorkshire & it’s on site.

4pm (weather permitting) Boules competition, names to Geoff Ogden SAP.

5:30pm (weather permitting) – All welcomed to the Communal BBQ Dine Alfresco – grill on your own BBQ in the BBQ enclosure next to the DA’s Event Tents.

8pm Indoor family social, (bring your own drinks)

Monday

Harrogate’s Licensee’s holds their annual Beer Festival in the ground of Ripon Cathedral 11:30am till 5:30pm with tasty Wine, Cider and Pimms on offer as well as delicious hot food, plenty of activities for the children and live music playing throughout the day it’s MAYDAY !

Fishermen – The large lake on site holds over 250 some record Carp, day tickets can be obtained from –

Cyclists The 2nd stage of the Tour de Yorkshire will go though Ripon on Friday the 3rd of May (our opening day) travelling north on the west side of Ripon, coming in on the A61 and out on the A610, the Tour can be seen about 3pm ish on Low Skell Gate & West Gate in the City the times have still to be confirmed. the site will now open at 10am to accommodate members who wish to view this tour.

Route There should be no problem driving to the site from the A1M exit 48 follow the signs to Ripon, over the bridge turn Left at H&S DA sign into the site. HG4 1UG.
